Proficiency testing scheme on tensile testing and chemical analysis of hot rolled ribbed steel bar

The hot rolled ribbed bar is widely used in civil engineering construction, such as houses, bridges and so on. Its quality directly affects the safety of project construction and is directly related to the safety of people's life and property. Therefore, the product occupies a pivotal position in the national economy.

These proficiency testing schemes involve tensile testing and chemical analysis of hot-rolled ribbed steel bar. Participating the PTS will help to check the performance of laboratories from mechanical test and chemical analysis and help the laboratories to find the problems in testing of steel products. It can enhance the performance of laboratories, serving the various fields of construction. These two PT schemes are organized by the GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) and executed by the China NIL Research Center for Proficiency Testing (NIL). GSO is a regional Organization Established under the umbrella of the Gulf Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (Muscat, Dec. 01), headquarter in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

A: Tensile Testing of Hot Rolled Ribbed Steel Bar (Fees: USD 500.00, PT Serial No: GSO-NIL pt-2017-001)

(a) Sample: Hot rolled ribbed steel bars of round cross-section, with 14 mm nominal diameter, 70 mm original gauge length, about 200 mm parallel length, 350 mm total length.

(b) Testing Machines: Testing Machines of 300kN~1000kN are recommended.

(c) Standard: ISO 6935-2: Steel for the reinforcement of concrete – Part 2: Ribbed bars

ISO 6892-1:2016 Metallic materials. Tensile testing. Part 1: Method of test at room temperature

(d) Testing Items: 3 items are required to report. They are tensile strength (Rm), lower yield strength (ReL) andpercentage elongation after fracture (A70mm).

B: Chemical analysis of Hot Rolled Ribbed Steel Bar (Fees: USD 450.00, PT Serial No: GSO-NIL pt-2017-002)

(a) Sample: Hot rolled ribbed steel barsDiscs sample: Φ40×30mm.

(b) Analysis methods: Discs sample (Φ40×30mm) will be available for different methods

(c) Testing Items: Five elements (CarbonSiliconManganese, Phosphorus and Sulfur element) are required to be determined, and the content ranges of the elements as follows. The calculation of Carbon equivalent (Ceq) is:Ceq=C+Mn/6.
